Since 2006, the number of LGBTQ+ spaces in London has more than halved. The filmmakers travelled around London for footage of closed clubs, sometimes finding those spaces taken over by corporate franchises such as McDonalds and Gourmet Burger Kitchen, or remaining empty.
Inspired by storytelling in montage, the film aims for a narrative that interweaves the vivacity of the London LGBTQ+ scene of the 1970s to the 1990s with images and videos that show the absent spaces today. The use of cheerful music and archive footage signify not just loss of safe spaces, but the hope remaining in a community that continues to show its strength even as these spaces disappear.
